IATF 16949 (which stands for International Automotive Task Force) supersedes ISO/TS 16949, the previous technical specification for the quality management systems of the automotive sector. The more stringent IATF 16949 is focused on achieving best practices when designing, developing, manufacturing, installing or servicing automotive products. The updated standard puts extra emphasis on risk-based thinking, process control and product traceability to ensure the highest quality and on time delivery for every manufactured lot and shipment. “These industry-leading quality system certifications represent the ongoing commitment by the entire organization at SPIROL to achieve high quality, high value, flexible and responsive manufacturing and customer service.” said Ken Hagan, Division President.
SPIROL Industries in Windsor, Ontario, Canada manufactures roll formed Tubular Products including Dowel Bushings, Spring Dowels, Ground Hollow Dowels, Compression Limiters and Spacers. As stated by Daniel McLean, Quality Manager at SPIROL Canada: “Achieving the IATF certification is a huge success for our site in Canada as we continue to grow - and for SPIROL as a global company!”
SPIROL International Corp. in Stow, Ohio manufactures Disc Springs, Precision Shims, Custom Washers and Spacers. In addition to IATF 16949, SPIROL Ohio also holds AS9100 Rev D (aerospace) and NADCAP (aerospace and defense) quality system certifications. Per Ken Hagan: “These certifications exemplify our relentless pursuit of continuous improvement and attaining the highest standards of quality.”
SPIROL’s World Headquarters located in Danielson, CT will be audited to the new IATF standard in August, 2018. SPIROL Mexico, S.A de C.V. located in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, will be audited in 2019

Performance Expectations for Threaded Inserts in Plastic Assemblies
Threaded Inserts enable designers to manufacture components out of plastic rather than metal to save cost and weight without sacrificing joint strength. Learn what factors impact rotational torque and tensile performance of Inserts and how to assure a stable design.
Solid Pin Retention Features
Solid Pins are commonly used as a permanent fastener in a wide range of applications. They are retained by the harder Solid Pin displacing material in the softer host component(s). There are several types of Solid Pin retention features. This White Paper describes the common types of retention features and can serve as a reference tool when designing a new product.
How to Select the Proper Pin for Your Application
Fasteners are some of the most important parts of an assembly as they hold the entire assembly together and facilitate the interaction between the individual components. Ideally, the selected fasteners are simple to assemble, provide a quality product for the intended lifetime of the assembly, and yield the overall lowest cost of the assembly taking into account the entire manufacturing process. This article focuses on how to select the proper pin for an application. Specifically, press fit pins are discussed here as they are the most common types of pins used in modern manufacturing.
The Difference Between Disc Springs and Belleville Washers
While both Disc Springs and Belleville washers may be suitable for your application, they are not always interchangeable. This white paper breaks down some of the important differences, and why a disc spring may be more beneficial for your application.
Which Austenitic Stainless Steel Spring Pin is Best for Dynamic Loading?
