NewAge® Industries manufactures a broad line of tubing and hose made from this versatile material, including platinum cured styles to ensure the fewest number of extractables. Silicone has long been used for medical tubing, as it meets that industry’s requirements for cleanliness and non-toxicity and is non-reactive to body issues and fluids. Another of silicone’s major features – resistance to extreme temperature variations – has enabled its use in applications where flexible tubing is needed to handle temperatures not possible with other plastics or rubbers – those from -100°F to as high as 500°F (-73°C to 260°C). Silicone tubing generally exhibits inertness toward U.V. radiation and ozone, making it an excellent choice for electrically-associated applications. Both industrial and medical/biopharmaceutical grades are manufactured. All of NewAge’s silicone tubing and hose is made in U.S.A.
How Custom Printed Tubing Fixed Leaks
This paper describes how NewAge Industries' engineering team worked with a customer to solve a problem. The two groups collaborated and developed a solution to address a tubing-to-fitting leak. As soon as the solution - custom printed tubing - was implemented, the leaks stopped. Download and read the paper for all the details.
A Comparison of Fittings
“A Comparison of Fittings” focuses on barbed fittings, push-to-connect fittings, compression fittings and cam operated couplings. It details how each works with tubing to ensure a good seal for proper fluid or air transfer. For instance, the report’s Barbed Fittings section notes that in order to obtain a proper seal, the O.D. (outer diameter) of the barbed area on the fitting must be slightly larger than the I.D. (inner diameter) of the tubing. The Push-To-Connect Fittings section offers tips such as making sure that the tubing used does not have exterior scratches, as this could compromise the seal.
Tubing & Hose Buying Tips, Part 1
Determining what plastic tubing is best for an application can be challenging. This paper includes topics such as ingredients, temperatures and pressure needs to assist engineers with material and style selection. It aims to help avoid the downtime, added costs and frustration involved when the wrong product is ordered.
