FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FLIR) today announced the addition of the FLIR K2 and K65 to its industry-leading lineup of K-Series thermal imaging cameras that provide firefighters with the capability to see through smoke, locate and rescue victims, identify hot spots, navigate safely, and stay better oriented during response missions.
The FLIR K2 brings FLIR’s powerful life-saving thermal technology to a broader base of firefighters at a breakthrough price point. Powered by FLIR’s revolutionary Lepton® camera core, the compact K2 delivers detailed thermal images at 160 x 120 resolution and is equipped with FLIR’s patented Multi-Spectral Dynamic Imaging (MSX®) technology that significantly enhances image quality, allowing firefighters to see key structural details in a variety of environments.
Also released was the FLIR K65, which is an advanced, feature-rich thermal imaging camera that is fully compliant with the NFPA 1801-2013 Standard for Thermal Imagers covering usability, image quality, and durability for firefighting. The K65 offers crisp 320 x 240 thermal resolution and features FLIR’s revolutionary Flexible Scene Enhancement™ (FSX) technology which significantly enhances scene detail and contrast in total darkness and smoke-filled rooms. The FLIR K65 also features onboard video recording and playback, which is useful for debriefing and training.
“FLIR is committed to providing firefighters with a broad range of thermal imaging cameras to meet virtually any budget or performance requirement. These two new K-Series products broaden FLIR’s product line while offering unique new capabilities with compelling price points,” said Andy Teich, FLIR’s President and CEO. “The K2 is another example of how our Lepton thermal camera core can address new customer segments for thermal imaging, while the K65 shows how our focus on customer needs and innovation results in highly advanced, rugged, and user-friendly sensor systems.”
The K2 will be available for purchase in late September 2015 and will retail for $1,295 (€1,195; £875) MSRP. The K65 will be available for purchase globally through established distribution networks immediately, retailing for $6,995 (€6,190; £3,795) MSRP.
