Photo Etched Precision Parts
Tech-Etch specializes in the manufacture of light gauge metal parts from .0005" thick and up. The photo etching process produces intricate metal components with close tolerances that are impossible to duplicate by other production methods. Photo etching eliminates the cost of hard tooling, improves design flexibility, and shortens lead times while eliminating burring and stress problems. Forming, laminating, assembly and finishing are available in-house. A 2.5 KW Mitsubishi CO2 Pulse Laser is used for greater tolerance control with thick materials.
Specialty materials such as Tungsten, Molybdenum, Nitinol, Titanium, Elgiloy and Polyimide have characteristics attractive to the medical industry for implants, springs, cathodes, blades, and stents. Extremely fine MicroEtch® Screens are used in filters and for extruding, separating and sizing. Polyimide film is used for non-conductive washers, screens, gaskets, insulation, and haptics for IOL lenses. Medical applications include titanium face and skull reconstruction plates, pacemaker and defibrillator grids for batteries, tungsten opaque components for x-ray devices, ultrasound contact springs, points for surgical blades, stiffener and bands for valve replacement, and circuit board level EMI shielding for electronics applications.
High reliability flexible printed circuits are manufactured on polyimide substrates, as single and double-sided circuits, as well as multi-layer and flex circuit assemblies. Circuits are built to exacting customer specifications, meeting the most demanding applications in the ultrasound probe, medical device, semiconductor, test equipment, industrial equipment, and aerospace markets.
Capabilities include adhesiveless construction for thinner and more flexible circuits and additive processing for higher density circuits with trace and space capabilities down to .0015". Microvia sizes are offered down to .001" diameter for high density, 2-layer flex circuits. Selective plating of gold and tin lead enables multiple attachment methods on the same circuit. Selective polyimide removal permits cantilevered and windowed leads. Complete SMT and thru hole component assembly services are available. Package sizes go down to 0201 & .4mm pitch. CO2 or UV-YAG lasers are used to outline flex circuits.
