Flame Retardant Silicone
Our R&D Department at Lauren Manufacturing has developed an extreme fl ame-retardant silicone sponge application. It is useful in such applications as fi re fi ghting equipment and building & construction. Meeting the NFPA 1971, (Standards of Protection Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting), the silicone sponge exhibits a tolerance for a wide range of temperatures withstanding intense heat placed upon equipment used by fi refi ghters. After removal from the fl ame source, the silicone sponge has the capability to self-extinguish within seconds of removal, a capability that when needed can be life saving. Furthermore, the material is characterized with the same excellent weatherability that is common in silicone materials already in the market. This flame-retardant silicone sponge can be presented to customers as a cost-eff ective alternative to dense flame retardant silicone.
New Organic FDA White & Black Dense EPDM
Expanding the FDA market is a 70 durometer organic white and black EPDM. The FDA material meets the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations (Title 21, 177.2600, Rubber articles intended for repeated use). Not only does the extruded organic material meet these requirements, but the splice glue can now conform to these requirements as well. Never off ered at Lauren before, the splice glue allows us to market complete FDA approved continuous gaskets into the food industry.
EPDM Sponge Improvements
Lower Cost Black 100% EPDM Family
Replacing the 6252 EPDM sponge family, engineers developed a lower cost 100% EPDM sponge. The 100% EPDM sponge will aid in expansion in current and new markets, maintaining an excellent elevated temperature (70C) compression set as well as single digit room compression set. Vertically integrated with LMI Custom Mixing, the 100% EPDM sponge utilizes lean manufacturing principles through a more effi cient mixing technology that reduces cost without sacrifi cing any performance characteristics.
Non-black EPDM, 2A2: (2 Alternatives)
Lauren Manufacturing is also proud to announce the production of the new non-black 2A2, 100% EPDM. Signifi cantly improving the dimension stability, the non-black 2A2, 100% EPDM exemplifi es a high performance, low compression set grade and the ability to hold tighter tolerance. Along with greater stability comes the ability to complete more in-line secondary processing such as taping, cutting, and splicing. This lean manufacturing sponge was developed to enhance our capabilities for the customer. As a lower cost alternative, Lauren also off ers a 13pcf non-black 2A2, EPDM. This is the lowest density sponge ever provided by Lauren Manufacturing. * Both non-black 2A2, sponge alternatives provide options for diverse applications and specifi c customer needs in markets such as building & construction, RV, weatherstripping, and more.
