Motion Control Chips
PMDs Magellan® Family of Motion Control ICs provides high performance chip-based motion control for multiple motor types, including brushless and DC brush motor control. Magellan motion control ICs are available in 1, 2, 3, and 4-axis versions. These flexible and programmable devices control DC brush, brushless DC, step, and microstepping motors. They are designed for demanding applications such as medical automation, general automation, and scientific instrumentation. Two versions of the Magellan are available. The multi-motor MC58000 motion control series controls all motor types (DC brush, brushless DC, step, and microstepping motors). The MC55000 series provides dedicated pulse & direction output for high-performance motion control and motor speed control.
Motion Control Cards
PMDs Prodigy® Motion Cards provide high performance board-level motion control for scientific, automation, industrial, and robotic applications. Available in PCI, PC/104, standalone, and machine controller configurations, these cards support multiple motor types including DC brush, brushless DC, and step motors, and are available in 1, 2, 3, and 4-axis configurations. Programmable versions of the card include PMDs C-Motion Engine that allows user code to run directly on the card, off-loading the system host or enabling stand-alone operation. The Machine controller version has on-card Atlas amplifiers that eliminate the need for external amplifiers along with enhanced analog and digital I/O.
Motion Control Drives
PMDs ATLAS® Digital Amplifiers are compact single-axis amplifiers that provide high performance torque control of DC brush, brushless DC, and step motors. They are packaged in a compact solderable module and utilize standard through-hole pins for all connections. ATLAS Digital Amplifiers are used for direct control of motor torque, or in conjunction with higher level controllers for velocity or positioning applications. Their very compact size and high power output make them ideally suited for applications such as laboratory automation, scientific instruments, general purpose motion control, HVAC, fan & pump controllers, and industrial motor control applications. ATLAS Amplifiers are provided in both vertical and horizontal mounting configurations, and with and without heat sink attachment tabs.
PMDs ION® Digital Drives are compact, fully enclosed modules that provide high performance motion control, network connectivity and power amplification. The ION/CME allows users to run code directly on the ION itself. Two overall power output levels are available; the ION 500 and ION/CME are rated at 500 Watts and the ION 3000 is rated at 3,000 Watts. All IONs can drive DC brush, brushless DC and step motors, and are ideal for medical, scientific, semiconductor, robotic, industrial and other automation applications.
