Böllhoff’s Automation Group has focused development to solve joining applications with mechanical joining solutions of similar or dissimilar materials within our customer base, developing RIVSET®, RIVTAC®, and ONSERT®.
RIVSET® is a Self-pierce riveting is a process for high-strength mechanical joining of similar materials or material combinations. Material layers are joined by a hardened semi-tubular rivet in a single step with no pre-drilling, little noise and no emissions, producing an interlocked friction joint. The rivet is designed to penetrate through the top material(s) and is spread under the influence of a die positioned below on the lower material. As this lower material is not pierced the resulting in a localized, watertight joint. RIVTAC®, our high-speed joining occurs in a simple and fast process. In a single step, the tack penetrates the materials from one side (no backup) and joins them efficiently without pre-punching. The speed of the tack is controlled via adjusting the setting pressure on the HMI; the speed is optimized to suit the materials and their thicknesses. The tack penetrates all component layers, piercing through the bottom sheet. The joining process of the tack results in material flow, allowing the parent material to be displaced into the annular grooves on the shank of the tack, resulting in a form fit within the joint.
ONSERT®, our light cured adhesive fastener series, an alternative to conventional products, such as weld studs and blind rivets for a variety of applications; Cable holders, Clips, Sensor holders, Attachment components, Insulation panels and Claddings. ONSERT® can be applied in pre and post E-Coat and Paint applications. ONSERT® can be applied to High Strength steel, thin sheet metal, fiber plastic composites. Pretreated surfaces; lacquered, polished, cathodic dip coating (E-Coat), and glass. With several process benefits, such as; Very low thermal stressing of components, Very high reproducibility, fast process (4-6 seconds full strength cure), no heat input, and design freedom due to subsequent joining gives another solution to your mechanical joining portfolio.
